Norma Placchi, has been working with the breed since 1974. Bundash
Cattery was registered with CFA in February 1971. She and her late husband,
Howard, had previously bred American Shorthairs. It was love at first
sight when Norma saw her first Havana Brown at a show in Santa Barbara, CA.
She rapidly acquired a breeding pair and her first Havana Brown litter was produced in 1974. She entered the CFA Judging Program in 1979 and has
been an All-Breed Judge since 1988. Norma was elected as Havana Brown Breed
Council Secretary in 1986 and served in that capacity until taking a hiatus in
1997.
Bundash Cattery has produced numerous Grand Champions, Grand Premiers, Regional
Winners and Distinguished Merit Havana Browns. Norma was the owner of the very first Havana Brown to achieve the title of Distinguished Merit, CH Charm’s Dazzle’M
of Bundash. This was accomplished in one litter when all 5 kittens became
Grands. Another first occurred in 1990 when GC RW
Bundash's Jane Eyre, D.M. became the first “almost made it” cat, placing 26th in
the National Standings. In 1997 Bundash Cattery produced the first and only
Havana Brown kitten to achieve the title of National Winner, GC NW Bundash Levi
Garrett, placing as 11th Best Kitten.
With the loss of her beloved Jane Eyre on March 26, 2002, Norma was without a
cat in the house for the first time in 40+ years. However, once she was
settled in her new home in New Mexico, she quickly remedied that situation and
is
the proud owner of two Havana Brown spays, GP Four-Pawhaus Mocha of Bundash and
CH Hav-A-Hill Soltaire of Bundash. A new era has begun for Norma and her
two new beloved Havana Browns!
